Bookseller Return and Damage Policy

McGraw-Hill Education Asia Return Policy

  1. Customers are permitted to return stocks according to the terms of trade established between the customer and authorized McGraw-Hill Education (Asia) representative.

  2. Returns are acceptable up to 20% of past calendar year’s annual gross purchases.

  3. Any returns made to McGraw-Hill Education (Asia) must be authorized by us with our Goods Return Authorization (GRA) and within the specified allowable period.  All returns must be accompanied by the GRA.

  4. When submitting a claim, please send your claim document showing your account number, ISBNs and quantities you intend to return. We will use our system to match the list of books to ensure that they are within 12 months validity period by account. After matching, we will provide you with an authorization showing the list of acceptable books which falls within the validity period. Upon receiving our authorization, please send us only the valid books listed. Please send the authorization list separately with your physical returns, and do not put the list in the cartons. Returns without proper carton identification and claims documentation will be rejected. Please specify carton numbers on packing lists. Shrink-wrap packs and sets will only be accepted as complete titles, so that crediting can be accurately applied.

  5. To minimize damage to returns (especially overseas returns), please adhere to the following guidelines.

    • Most importantly, use boxes that are meant for overseas shipment
    • Try not to leave any gaps in the boxes
    • Instruct your forwarders that there must be no double stacking of your shipment
  6. All unauthorized returns and returns exceeding allowable return period will be rejected and referred to McGraw-Hill Education (Asia) sales representative to mitigate with customer.

  7. McGraw-Hill Education (Asia) reserves the right to refuse credit to any titles which are:

    • Books purchased more than 12 months (from date of Invoice) prior to request for return
    • Out-of-print for more than 3 months
    • Books not purchased from McGraw-Hill Education (Asia)
    • Books returned without corresponding invoice numbers/copies of corresponding invoices
    • Severely damaged books e.g. bent or torn covers, pages, spine, with irremovable stickers, pen/pencil marks
    • Returns must be properly packed in good carton packing. Poorly packed returns will result in damage during transit and we reserve the right to reject the damaged returns.
  8. All rejected books returned to us will either be returned to sender at sender’s cost or destroyed by us and no credit will be issued.

  9. Claims for goods damaged in transit or short shipment of goods must be made within 30 days of receipt by the customer.

  10. Claims for credit where we have no record of receipt in our warehouse will not be entertained unless proof of delivery is available.

  11. The cost of returns will be borne by customer.  We will accept the cost of return only when the cause of the return is clearly of our fault, e.g. duplication of order, incorrect book sent. For rejected returns, we will notify customer and give three (3) weeks’ notice to collect at customer’s own freight expense. If this does not happen then we will initiate destruction of inventory and no credit will be given.
